When asked the question: ''what is your least favorite thing to do''? people often reply packing and moving. The more people you ask, the clearer it is, that moving is the least desirable activity to perform. When moving there are number of things to be done, for so short period of time. Apparently, you have to be really organized, to get everything done on time.

So,when the moving day comes, after all the packing and cleaning, you have to have a moving van available to transport your belongings from one place to another. This means, that besides all the packing, you have to rent a moving van as well. If, this is the first time for you to make all the arrangements, here are some things to consider when renting a moving truck or van.

First of all, you should find a reliable moving company to transport your belongings. Make a list of all the companies there are in your area and check each one of them on the internet. Most companies have websites, so you can get all the information you need, like phone number, address and company's background. It is very important to find out for how long the company has been on the market. If you are looking for the best service provider to transport your belongings, make sure to choose the one that has been longest on the market.

Secondly, when you have chosen a company check their office. We all know that, we can not trust completely on the information given on the internet, so make sure that the company is real and legitimate. Another important thing to consider is, asking them to show you an insurance policy. You have to make sure, that every document they are showing you is legal, to avoid serious troubles.

And last but not least, you should examine the truck or moving van they are offering. Have in mind, that it is your stuff that will be transported with that vehicle. So, you should very carefully examine what they are offering to you. Even when the company is showing you a document, which proves that the vehicle is in a good condition, you still have to look at it and search for any obvious damages. It does not matter whether you are renting the truck for a short or longer distance; you have to make sure that the moving van is a good condition.

It is also very important to measure your stuff, when you are renting a van. This will give you an idea what kind of a truck you need to rent.

Having visited the company's office and investigated the truck, you are ready to move your stuff. Remember to book your moving truck at least five days before the moving. Don't make the mistake of leaving this for the last day. Make a phone call the day before the moving, to make sure that the truck or van will be ready when you need it. A lot of people have been in a situation, in which they cannot use the truck on the day they need to, because of some last minute problems. You can avoid getting in that situation, by making one simple phone call.

It seems that, finding a good and reliable moving company is much like finding any other services provider. There is a lot more arrangements and negotiations involved, than you have probably thought.
