Packing and Moving Basics Packing and Moving Basics Many people make the mistake of underestimating the effort and time needed to pack things properly when they move. The result is missing items, broken things, and other disasters you don't need to add to the stress of your moving-related concerns. First tip: Organize. List down all the things you will be bringing with you when you move. It's best if you label each box appropriately, indicating the contents (especially if they're breakable!) Try to maximize space and pack your breakable things properly using bubble wrap, cardboard, and packing peanuts. Second tip: Get rid of the excess. One of the best ways to get rid of your excess things is to hold a garage sale and sell the things you won't be bringing with you. Of course, you won't be able to charge high prices, but it's much better that throwing them away. The money you earn from this can go to your moving budget. Whatever's left you can donate to charity. Throwing your things away should always be the last resort. Third tip: Coordinate with your movers. Proper coordination with your movers is important so you have no misunderstandings when it's time to settle the bill. So make sure that an amount is agreed upon (or at least something close to it) as well as the services they'll be doing for you.
