How to Move to a New House with Your Beloved Cat

Cat Moving CompanyDo you know how stressful it is to move from one house to another? Your stress is nothing compared to the level of stress for your pets, especially for your cat. Among the many domestic pets, cats are usually the most susceptible to house-moving stress. But you can help your beloved pet to lessen this traumatic experience.

While you are still packing for your things, you can do the following for your cat:

1.Start emptying one good room.

2.Put the bed, food, litter tray, and toys of your cat.

3.Don’t forget to include a lockable carrier for the cat. Your pet can already practice using this thing before the actual date of moving.

4.Make sure that the empty room is fun for your cat. You can do that through putting in its bed, toys, and litter tray.

5.Since this room will be the temporary shelter of your cat for a few weeks, make sure that it is safe. Do that through keeping him away from dangerous things. You can also prevent him from jumping high. Remove big boxes and don’t open windows too wide.

Few days before you move, make an appointment to a veterinarian. Ask the doctor about the safe way to travel your cat and make sure you follow every instruction he has. You should do the following when you already arrived to your new place:

1.Look for an empty room again. This should be similar to the room that your cat had in your old house. The room will be the unpacking room for your cat.

2.Have all your cat’s things inside the empty room like his bed, toys, etc.

3.Only let your cat out of the room once the house is already prepared.

4.Your cat may explore the new house but he may get scared in this strange place. Talk to your cat calmly to help him familiarize with the new place.

5.Show your cat where it can find its litter tray and food bowl.

6.After few days, your cat will be ready to explore the house all by itself.

7.Don’t let your cat explore the outside of your house unless he is already familiar of the house’s inside.

8.You can allow your pet roam outside of your house through starting in the garden first. Make sure to supervise your cat first.

9.Let your cat out of the house once it is already familiar with the garden. It should know how to go out and return to your house.

10.Update the details on your cat’s collar. In case your pet becomes lost, the finder can easily return it to you.

Your cat is already a member of your family. And a family should be taken cared of. Your cat also deserves a special treatment whenever a stressful and traumatic activity happens, just like moving from one house to another.
